Christmas 2013

We had some winter wonder land fun on the top of Grouse Mountain with friends. Reason why Alex and some other kids are waring helmets is that we are actually ice skating! This "high altitude training camp" was needed for more "serious" skating in the ice ring on Boxing Day.

We wish you all a great year 2014!

May 5 afternoon in Vancouver

We took of from home at 2:30 p.m. It was sunny and very warm. Up on the mountain we went and did little bit about skiing and some sled rides. It was supper warm also on the top! We had still some time to do beach - Alex just could live on beach! Yeah... all this is possible within a few hours.

Lahdimme kotosalta 14:30. Lammin paiva. Ylos vuorelle mentiin jossa vahan kokeiltiin suksia ja laskettiin pulkamakea. Lamminta oli huipullakin. Meille jai viela aikaa menna rannallekin - Alex voisi vaikka asua rannalla. Joo... taa kaikki on mahdollista tehda muutamassa tunnissa.

Roller Blades !!

There was a one-week long training for roller blade skating at Alex's school. Alex learned basics and so did Daddy! Now Riku has to go out skating with Alex.

Alexin koulussa järjestettiin rullaluistelu kurssi. Alex oppi aika hyvin taman taidon ja niin teki isäkin! Nyt Rikun pitää mennä Alexin kanssa rullaluistelemaan.

Alex's Birthday

In the  beginning of February we celebrated Alex's 6th birthday. We had to have two parties for Alex as all his friends would not have fit to our home at once!

Helmikuun alussa Alex juhli kuudetta syntymäpäiväänsä. Järjestimme kahdet juhlat koska kaikki ystävät eivät olisi mahtuneet kotiimme kerralla.

Alex ice skating

A couple of times this winter (so far) we have been skating on ice at Robson's square.
Muutaman kerran tana talvena olemme kayneet luistelemassa Vancouverin keskustassa Robsonin aukiolla.

Mt. Seymour

Mount Seymour is the closest mountain to us. It takes 30-45 minutes by car from our home to the top of the mountain. That mountain has received over 3 meters of snow already this year. Last year it snowed over 7 meters on the top! And the view.... absolutely great! We have a good access to snow here even though grass is green in the city.

Alex loves snow. It's great that we have this possibility to take him to play with snow. Only problem is that he doesn't want to go home when we are leaving from the mountain (as you may see from the picture above).

Seymorin vuori on meitä lähinnä.

Santa's sleigh

Here is a photo taken through our living room window at Christmas Eve 2012. This year most of the Santa's presents arrived with a sleigh that had "Canadian Post" signs on the side - not too many reindeers either, but a red nose for sure.

Tässä kuva olohuoneen ikkunan lävitse jouluaattona 2012. Joulupukkin rekin oli Kanadan postiauto - ei  poroja mutta jokseenkin punainen nenä.

Christmas 2012

Alex enjoyed Christmas (as you can imagine)! Here he has just opened a parcel that arrived from Finland.

Alex bikes!

Alex's favorite means of transportation to school is his own bike. Everyday he picks his bicycle and go to school. A month or so ago we decided to try if he could  ride his bike without training wheels. And vola! Alex did fine without them. In the video he bikes to school first time without the training wheels. It took almost a week from his friends to believe that he can ride his bike now without the training wheels.

Merry Christmas Season

We wish you a very merry Christmas Season and blessed coming year. This photo was taken in our new home in Vancouver on Christmas Day in occasion when church came over for a cup of coffee.
We moved here in August after around 10 years in Brussels, Belgium.

Grandpa Pentti's 80th

Pentti "pappa" (grandpa) turned 80. Happy Birthday once again!

Eero's early birthday party

We celebrated Eero's 75th birthday in January as we may not be able to be present on his actual birthday later on this spring. Eero got as a present a special tea mug his picture on. Alex was as interested in seeing it as Eero was.

Ice skating first time

During our Christmas break in Finland Alex learned to skate and play a hockey. Here he is with his trainer - dad.

Santa and Alex

Here Alex is sitting on the lap of the real Santa Claus from Korvatunturi, Lapland. (Santa's another title is Grandpa Eero.)

Christmas Greetings!

We wish you a very peaceful Christmas season and blessed new year 2012. Alex just told us that we should remind all the readers that they should put up a Christmas tree and some lights as we have already done.

...and we have been listening Christmas CDs already for a week... "Joy to the world the Lord is come..."

Alex a Mountain Climber

This summer we had a privilege to visit in Lapland where we used to visit once a year and where we were also engaged some 27 years ago. So after 18 years since our last visit there we returned to Lapland with Alex spending some week and a half doing all kinds of outdoor activities. One day Alex took a kids' introductory course of climbing. He was (as were mom and dad) thrilled to do that kind of cool thing with all necessary cool equipment.

25th Anniversary

We have reached 25 years in Marriage. Our Belgium church organized a special morning service around that theme.
